Infused water. It sounds slightly glamorous and expensive – but let’s not get ahead of ourselves, it’s basically flavoured water – but we love it! It’s easy and cheap to make, yet transforms our plain Cinderella tap water into a dazzling bottled princess! With summer upon us it’s the perfect time to catch some rays over a sociable picnic. And what better way to wow your family and friends than with a cold, refreshing, homemade beverage.
All you need is filtered tap water, fruit and herbs, and a few mason jars or similar.
The Instructions are simple:
- Add your chosen fruits and herbs to the filtered water and let it infuse for at least three to four hours for optimum flavor. Or even better let it infuse in the fridge overnight.
- After the ingredients have been working their magic for 12 hours or more then remove them from the water (you can reuse them but the flavor will be lessened each time).
- Store your new beverage in the fridge for up to three days, it will only last about 12 hours if left out at room temperature, so stick it in an esky when picnicking or keep in a water cooling bottle when taking it out and about.
If you already have a complete home filtration system, then you’re one step ahead in the game, as filtered water is the essential base of all recipes. Unfiltered tap water can be used, but you’ll be sacrificing the taste. And if you want to go all out, why not add a little fizz and used filtered sparkling water?
