Australian Design and Local Water Conditions

Complete Home Filtration

Complete Home Filtration is Australian-founded and operates in Australia, with its whole home system designed around Australian homes and plumbing requirements.

The system can be configured to the property’s water supply and household needs, with different cartridge and media setups determined through consultation with a water technician.¹

Puretec

Puretec is an Australian-owned company whose whole home systems are designed for Australian and New Zealand conditions.

Its range includes systems with different flow capacities and filtration configurations, letting customers choose a system based on factors like household size, water usage, and filtration requirements.²

Whole Home Coverage

Complete Home Filtration

The CHF-6000 installs on the mains before water is distributed throughout the home, filtering the property’s entire water supply.

It can include sediment filtration, granular activated carbon, and KDF-55 media, with options for water softening, scale prevention, heavy metal reduction, or chloramine reduction, depending on the system. The maximum flow rate is either 32 to 50 litres per minute, depending on your specific setup.1,3

Puretec

Puretec’s whole house systems are also installed where water enters the home. The filtration provided depends on the model chosen.

For example, the WH2-55 and WH2-60 use sediment and carbon filtration, with published maximum flow rates of 55 and 60 litres per minute, respectively. Other systems in the range offer different configurations, including models designed to address PFAS or reduce scale.4,5

Installation and Who Does It

Complete Home Filtration

Complete Home Filtration manages the installation process through its technicians and partnered plumbers.

A licensed professional must install the CHF-6000 on the mains between the water meter and the first inlet tee-off into the home. The technician considers the installation requirements when determining the appropriate system setup for the property.6

Puretec

Puretec whole house systems are also designed for installation by a licensed plumber.

Exact installation requirements depend on the model and the property's existing plumbing. Puretec offers installation documentation for its systems, while its products are supplied through its dealer and retailer network. Installation is left to customers to arrange with a local plumber.7

Cartridge Cycle and Ongoing Cost

Complete Home Filtration

The CHF-6000 uses high-capacity cartridges, and the technical specifications recommend replacement every 6 to 12 months, depending on water quality. Complete Home Filtration also notes that maintenance intervals may need to be adjusted based on a qualified technician's advice.

Ongoing cost depends on the cartridge type for the property and the replacement schedule needed for that water supply. That means the most useful comparison is between a quote for the same system and replacement schedule.1

Puretec

Puretec’s replacement requirements vary by system and by the cartridges used in each model. For example, the WH2-55 and WH2-60 use separate sediment and carbon cartridges, while other systems in the range use different cartridges.

As with Complete Home Filtration, the long-term costs depend on the specific system, replacement requirements and cartridge prices.4,5

Softening and Hardness Handling

Complete Home Filtration

Complete Home Filtration can address hardness as part of the whole home system setup.

The CHF-6000 offers either a high-capacity water-softening resin cartridge or scale-prevention media as cartridge options. The ideal design depends on the property’s requirements.1

Puretec

Puretec addresses hardness through its Softrol water softener range.

Puretec recommends pairing its water softening systems with whole house filtration, including a carbon pre-filter to help protect the softening resin from chlorine. Different models offer different capacities and flow rates.8

Local Service and Aftercare

Complete Home Filtration

Complete Home Filtration supports its systems with troubleshooting resources, maintenance guides, and fully qualified service teams across Australia.

The CHF-6000 includes a two-year manufacturer’s warranty on the system, as well as a plumbing workmanship warranty of up to seven years, depending on applicable state requirements.9

Puretec

Puretec provides product support via its Australian business, dealer network and published product documentation.

Warranty coverage varies by product. The WH2-55 and WH2-60, for example, publish a 10-year warranty comprising one year of parts and labour followed by nine years of parts-only coverage. Filter cartridges are excluded.10

Certification and Scope

Complete Home Filtration

Complete Home Filtration publishes several certifications and manufacturing credentials across its products. These include WaterMark certification, testing against relevant NSF standards and ISO 9000-accredited manufacturing requirements.

For the CHF-6000, the documentation identifies the WaterMark licence as WMK023341 and also provides information about NSF testing and assessment through IAPMO, along with its manufacturing requirements on its certifications page.

The important distinction here is the scope of the credential. A certification or standard may apply to a specific system, component, or manufacturing process, so check the product and assessment rather than assuming every credential applies to the full range.11

Puretec

Puretec also publishes multiple certifications and quality credentials across its product range. WaterMark certification applies to relevant plumbing products, including the WH2 whole home range, while Puretec also publishes NSF certification for specific products.

For example, the WH2 Series specifications identify the WaterMark licence of WM74617. As with Complete Home Filtration, the relevant question is “what’s actually been certified or assessed, and to what standard?” instead of just counting the number of mentioned qualifications.8,12
